YALDA is a small project that transforms vacant houses into places to stay. “YALDA apartment” opened in 2025 after renovating a building that had long been unused. It is located in a quiet residential neighborhood, right in front of the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, and within walking distance of Kenrokuen Garden and the D.T. Suzuki Museum. The space is kept minimal, and all cleaning and laundry products are plant-based. In 2026, we plan to open “YALDA hotel,” created by renovating a 120-year-old former teahouse. Rather than simply preserving the old or pursuing the new, we listen to each place and add only what feels truly necessary. This project is sustained by the local community and the guests who visit. By engaging with the stories and materials behind each space, we hope to continue in a way that is thoughtful, gentle, and sustainable.
